Join the thousands of youth from across Ontario who are taking up the challenge to make a difference in their communities, towns and cities.

ChangeTheWorld: Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge is a six week campaign for high school students to volunteer in their community.

Between April 10th and May 23rd, students who volunteer 3 hours or more in their community will earn some of the hours they need to graduate and will also be recognized with a certificate from the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade (MCIIT) and Sarnia Gives.

This year, it’s your opportunity to be part of the Challenge and ChangeTheWorld!

You Can Get Involved In The following Ways:

  1. Volunteer at any events taking place during ChangeTheWorld.See our list of events and opportunities .
  2. Look for interesting volunteer opportunities in your community and apply to volunteer!
  3. Take the initiative! Create, plan and organize your own event for ChangeTheWorld! Get your friends and school involved! See our list of event suggestions

Once you have completed 3 hours or more, submit your total hours and receive a certificate from The Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade (MCIIT) and Sarnia Gives!

 

 



 

Change the World

Calling all Sarnia-Lambton Youth! Students, we challenge you to Change The World! This is an opportunity for young people, like YOU, to connect to community organizations which can provide you with an awesome volunteer experience.  It also lets you take the initiative on causes you feel really passionate about. The campaign brings together community organizations, youth, Sarnia-Lambton secondary schools and community leaders for 6 weeks of volunteering, fun and new experiences. ChangeTheWorld is your opportunity to be part of something big!

Benefits for high school youth to participate in the ChangeTheWorld campaign include:

  • Collect volunteer hours to count towards your 40 hours 
  • Explore your passions by sharing your skills and talents with community service organizations/agencies
  • Submit your hours to us and be recognized for your contributions 
  • Have fun volunteering with your friends…or make new friends!
  • Calling all community organizations and agnecies! The Change The World campaign is an incredible way to raise awareness for your organization and the programs and services that you offer. It allows youth to connect with organizations just like yours. We invite you to get involved in this year’s campaign and to consider engaging youth volunteers. Benefits for community service organizations/agencies participating in the Change The World campaign include:

  • All registered events will be posted in the Change The World Events & Opportunities Database All confirmed events will be listed in the ChangeTheWorld Events List of our website.

    Steps 4 Life 5K Walk - Saturday May 7th, 2016 - Canatara Park - Sarnia, ON

    Volunteer Roles & Duties:

    • 4 - 6 volunteers are needed to assist the day of the event
    • Run the Tshirt table
    • Marshal the walk
    • Provide assistance with distributing food & beverages after the walk
     

    Walk for Muscular Dystrophy - Saturday  May 7th, 2016 -  Canatara Park - Sarnia, ON

    • Gather neighbours, peers and family and assemble a crew, identify a park space you wish to clean and register your site to receive supplies.
    • No clean up crew or site in mind? New to the city? Join our community cleanup group at Canatara Park or Rainbow park!
    • Free BBQ for all participants at Canatara Park at 12:00pm provided by the Rotary Club.

    Volunteers Roles & Duties:

    • This is a volunteer-driven community clean-up effort to pick up roadside trash and litter in community parks and spaces.
    • Students are encouraged to take part in the cleanup and gain volunteer hours.
    • Participants are encouraged to meet up again at the Forest Library for a group photo.

    • This opportunity is great for students, does not require knocking on doors or ringing doorbells
    • Volunteers will canvas their neighbourhoods and drop off envelopes for the Daffodil campaign in mailboxes.

    • Do mail drops on your walk around your neighbourhood
