What is a volunteer?

Someone who uses their skills, talents and time to help their community grow and remain successful.

How much time does it take to volunteer?

As much or as little as you have to give. There are volunteer opportunities available during all hours of the day, and all days of the week.

How long do I have to commit for?

Volunteer opportunities can involve commitments from as little as one hour to several years depending on the type of position and its specific requirements.

What will I do as a volunteer?

Like volunteers, volunteer opportunities are unique and varied. As a volunteer you may assist an organizations clients, help with administrative or everyday tasks or help plan a special event or fundraiser.

Do I need a police check?

Whether or not you need a police check (criminal records check) will be dependent on the organization you are working with and the opportunity you are interested in.  When viewing opportunities on the Sarnia Gives site this is one of the requirements that will be listed, however; we also suggest that you confirm with the organization if a check is required and if so, what type.

If you're still not sure what to expect from the volunteer process you can find out more here.  Or, you can go straight to finding a volunteer opportunity.  Use the Criteria Search to find an opportunity based on your interests, skills and location or use the Map Search to find an opportunity in a specific area of Lambton County.
